GROUP SHOW // Sander Reijgers, Servaas Roelandse & Robbert de Goede

6 September - 16 October 2022
Overview

On Sunday 11 September, MPV Gallery kicks off the new season with a group exhibition presenting work by Sander Reijgers, Servaas Roelandse and Robbert de Goede.

SANDER REIJGERS //
Sander Reijgers (1977, NL) is fascinated by the phenomena of Time and Being. He surrenders to the act of painting, to the process that leads from a 'becoming' to a 'being'. Sander Reijgers respects the time it takes.
Reijgers builds up his paintings with endless patience by applying layer after layer of paint to the canvas. Always resting to allow the layer to dry before continuing.

ROBBERT DE GOEDE //
Mathematical figures, movement, space and time are the sources of inspiration for Robbert de Goede (1969, NL). He is also interested in natural phenomena that follow certain logical paths. The artist always works with wire: thin for smaller work and thicker for larger work. Spatial shapes and contours are created by means of lacing.
By walking back and forth along the work, it becomes clear how it is constructed. The movement also creates an intimate, almost meditative bond with the work: the eye wants to focus, but this proves difficult. In this process, the viewer disappears into the work, and a very intimate relationship is created between viewer and image.

SERVAAS ROELANDSE //
Servaas Roelandse graduated in 2000 from the Utrecht School of the Arts, department of theater design, but in 2001 Servaas made the choice to fully focus on his autonomous work. Recurring themes in his work are animals, classic remakes, sexuality and death.
Roelandse uses different materials and techniques. For his work in this exhibition, the artist used pigmented Hartform gypsum that he poured into moulds. By pouring different colors of plaster into the mold at random, a spontaneous and playful end result is created.
